The Maritime Blacksmiths Association and the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council are proud to present
CanIRON V, a four day gathering of blacksmiths and interested parties from North America and Europe.
Its purpose is to promote the art and craft of blacksmithing and to act as a forum for the sharing of ideas,
techniques, and philosophies amongst blacksmiths internationally. This will be only the fifth blacksmithing
conference held in Canada, and the first in Atlantic Canada.
While CanIRON V is intended to be a conference given for, and by, blacksmiths, it will include much public
interaction. The gallery and auction will be open to the public, and there will be public forging demonstrations daily.

From recent
communications it is evident that many people are interested in attending CanIRON V because of its Maritime
location. This event will focus international attention on Atlantic Canada, and many delegates will use the
conference as a starting point for more extended travel here. Many will form lasting friendships with
blacksmiths from other nations, and this will in turn deepen the bond between us all.
