CanIRON VI
June 29 - July 2, 2007
Luxton Fairgrounds, Victoria BC Canada

The Vancouver Island Blacksmith's Association is pleased to host CanIron VI (2007) at Luxton Fairground. Ten years ago, CanIron started as a dream to bring Canadian blacksmiths, and smiths from around the world, together to learn, share ideas and make new friends. From its start in Vernon, BC, the idea was for CanIron to travel west to east. The show continued to Calgary, Alberta, then to North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Next up was Hamilton, Ontario and lastly, Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. Now CanIron has come full circle and is back in the west, the Pacific Northwest, a unique and popular tourist destination!

We are hard at work putting together a great demonstrators package for you to enjoy. The Western Canadian Wheelwrights Association, wcwa.ca, and Western Canadian Farriers Association, wcfa.ca, will also be here to show their disciplines.

There will be dry camping allowed at the fairground but units or tents must be self contained. There are no electrical hook-ups and there cannot be campfires due to fire season. There is also a Provincial Government Campground, Goldstream Park, nearby (see discovercamping.ca, reservations recommended). Another camping option is Fort Victoria RV Park, 340 Island Highway, 8.7 Km from Luxton Fairgrounds, 1-250-479-8112; www.fortvictoria.ca (special rates for CanIron Conference attendees). Dorms are available for accommodations at a local university (see booking information under Lodgings).

Travelling to Victoria, Vancouver Island, BC, could not be easier with three ferry boat system access routes and an international airport. The biggest ferry system with the most available sailings is our B.C. Ferries bcferries.com, from Tsawwassen (Vancouver), on the mainland, to Swartz Bay (Victoria), on Vancouver Island. Also from Washington State, there is the Coho Ferry, cohoferry.com, from Port Angeles to Victoria and the Anacortes Ferry, wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/ that arrives in Sidney, close to Victoria.

Please keep checking back as more information becomes available, and we hope to see you at CanIron 2007!
